Carolina is a Geographer and Environmental Scientist working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Environmental Philosophy Group. She has a BSc Honours degree in Physical Geography from the University of New South Wales (Australia), as well as a MSc degree in Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University (The Netherlands). In 2010 she completed her PhD at Monash University (Australia) on climate and global environmental change impacts, values, vulnerability, and adaptation through an application of Policy Sciences. Carolina’s research interests focus on problem-oriented approaches in global environmental (climate) change adaptation, science-policy interface, analysis of decision and social processes in policy-making, and inter- transdisciplinary collaborations.
Learning from Indigenous Natural Resources Management in the Barmah-Millewa (Australia) – This multi-actor transdisciplinary project looks at intellectual property provisions that protect indigenous knowledge while supporting the use and integration of this knowledge in natural resources management and governance. Carolina’s role in this project is to facilitate training and local capacity building as well as conduct stakeholder engagement and analysis of community perceptions on natural resource management policies using Q-methodology. Carolina’s PhD thesis was awarded with the 2010 Harold D. Lasswell Prize by the Society of Policy Scientists Inc. in the USA, for best dissertation in the field of public policy.
