Research

With our research, we provide clarification and systematization in the understanding of environmental problems and issues for sustainable development, using philosophical methods such as the analysis of concepts and arguments.

Actual research topics are in the fields of epistemology and philosophy of science, in decision analysis, and in ethics. A special focus is on analysing the challenges that arise when results from science are expected to be useful and effective in dealing with complex real-world problems. In this regard, we collaborate with colleagues doing empirical research, modelling and computer simulations in the fields of land-use, climate change and environmental policy.
